The End to Another Beginning

Well I finished the Vertical Jump Bible Novice strength and beginner plyometrics program. I have to admit this is a well put together program with lots of information. It has great workouts and a schedule that could work for any one. While I was doing the exercises I felt great. It was like i could do more but I was still grinding. The exercises are easy to follow and most of them didn't require a lot of equipment. The best part about the Program is that it is designed to fit you because before you start you have to test and see where you are at then figure out which workouts will help you improve the most. The only bad thing i guess would be that some of the exercises are just a little bit hard to understand and some videos to demonstrate would be useful.

Am still not done so I will stay on the program hopefully i can get that 40 inch vertical.

Shout outs to my man Kelly Baggett. If you don't know him, he is the mad scientist behind vertical jump bible. Look him up and the Jump Bible and get on it if you haven't.

Progress

Its been a while since my last post since I have been working and busy with school work but I also got lazy too which wasn't a good idea. The thing is you shouldn't be content with where you are at, which I did and started eating junk food a little bit. The vertical jump bible is going great though I managed to increase my squat which is around 310 pounds and my vertical is at 28 inches now. I still have three weeks to go with a goal of cracking 30 inches I will also work on the dunk videos too!

Rest

I have had to learn the hard way. i think the most important part of training is resting. Why after all the stress and wear and tear you put your muscles through in the weight room they need enough time to grow. I think that reason i didn't gain for about 3 or 4 weeks was because i didn't get enough rest. I worked out, played pick up ball, ball practice, and just slept late. Now that I have been getting enough rest I am glad to say my vertical jump improved another inch!!!

Gains

Is it just me or have i hit a wall. It seems like i might have hit a wall since I have not seen gains for a while now. The only thing I have gained on is my squat. I improved since now train with a weight of 180lbs. I guess this is the part where they say you shouldn't be disappointed because you might gain rapidly but you might also gain slowly or gain and drop and gain. We will just have to see hopefully I can add a few more inches.

Squatting

Yes I know they are hard but definitely necessary for building leg strength. Been squatting for a couple weeks now and can feel the progress. The key about it, when it is hard is you gotta build up slowly. For me i started at about 160 and been grinding for 3 weeks. In 3 weeks I have gotten to my own bodyweight which is 175 with 12 weeks left. You just gotta grind and take it slow. If you want to jump higher one part of the equation is hitting the squats.

The Start

Ever imagined what it's like to dunk a basketball, maybe even have an above average vertical leap? If you haven't I have. I see people dunking all the time, maybe even in football games the players reaching high to grab that touchdown pass and am like "whoa, I wish that was me". Seeing people who make those amazing plays has given me inspiration. Inspiration to go on a quest to obtain an impressive vertical leap for myself so that I too can jump like a kangaroo. The average vertical leap of an NCAA Div. 1 Basketball player is 27-30 inches. Great but I want to be above average through hard work!

Its gonna be a long journey but Marva Collins says "Success doesn't come to you, you go to it." Hopefully by the time I am done I will be doing this

Los Angeles Lakers vs New York Knicks in Los Angeles

I will be using the program Vertical Jump Development Bible on my training and will continue to post updates on my progress.
